Dara Christian High School expects all students to uphold high standards of personal conduct and Christian character. Our discipline management approach is restorative and educative: we teach students to accept responsibility for their actions, learn from mistakes, and make positive choices.

  1. Respect for self, others and property.
  2. Integrity and honesty.
  3. Responsibility and accountability.
  4. Restorative justice rather than punitive isolation where possible.

In an academic setting like DCHS there are several programmes running that call for the undivided attention and commitment of the learner, teacher, the administrator, parent and other stakeholders that are involved in the day to day running of the school. To cultivate this commitment, a high degree of discipline is required by all stakeholders. This discipline requires that focused, deliberate adjustments be made by all those involved in a bid to align stakeholders’ interest to those of DCHS. It is for this reason that the school has designed a number of all-embracing codes of conduct for each of the categories of key players it is involved with. These codes of conduct have precise measures accompanying them that ensure that they are observed and that the desired behavior is eventually elicited and sustained in the learner. Nevertheless, the school seeks to increase fidelity to and appreciation of these codes so as to provide a suitable ecosystem, conducive for realization of school vision and mission.

To create a culture of appreciation and fidelity to set codes and standards that may from time to time be put in place to elicit and sustain desired behavior and character in both staff and students.

  1. Regularly review and communicate changes made to different codes of conduct to meet the most recent standards set by the school.
  2. Regularly and effectively communicate issues of discipline to all DCHS stakeholders through different media, focusing and emphasizing the need to be disciplined.
  3. Ensure a robust class, compound and dormitory environment management system.
  4. Ensure a fully functional and highly motivated student administration able to work under minimum supervision.
  5. Maintain a counselling office that complements other guidance and counselling mechanisms in place.
  6. Ensure that all staff  members are fully  integrated in the process of discipline management.
  7. Integrate parents and a wider fraternity of stakeholders in the management of discipline.
  8. Expeditiously and transparently handle all discipline issues.
